Our Rainbow Beach helps visitors plan safe, rewarding trips to Rainbow Beach and the surrounding coast. We write in-depth guides to the places, walks and activities, and we explain the practical things that matter here more than almost anywhere else: permits, tides, beach driving and wildlife safety.
Our history
The ourrainbowbeach.com.au domain was previously used by a local commerce and tourism association for a business and visitor directory. That site went offline, and this independent guide was relaunched on the domain in 2026. We have kept the focus on places to explore around Rainbow Beach, rewritten every page from fresh research, and kept old web addresses working wherever possible. We are not connected to that association and do not speak for any council, park authority or business.
How we research
Our guides are built from authoritative sources: Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the Queensland Heritage Register, Queensland Government records, the Bureau of Meteorology, Maritime Safety Queensland, ABC News reporting and local history publications. Each page lists its sources so you can check them.
We do not invent quotes, statistics, prices or reviews. Permit fees, barge times, tour prices and opening hours change often, so we point you to the official source rather than publishing details that may go out of date.
Images
Photographs are published under open licences such as Creative Commons, or are in the public domain. They are credited on the page and in our image credits.
Independence and funding
Nobody can pay to change our guides or recommendations. If a page carries affiliate links, ads or a paid listing, it is clearly labelled, and our editorial policy explains how we make money.
